Description/Blazon

SHIELD

Azure, a naval crown Proper, on a chief Argent two barrulets Gules surmounted by a laurel branch fesswise Or.


CREST

From a wreath Argent and Azure a life ring of the first garnished Gules encircled by a chain Or, overall an anchor of the second.


MOTTO

A scroll Or doubled and inscribed "QUEEN OF THE FLEET".


SEAL

The coat of arms as blazoned upon a white disc enclosed by a dark blue border edged on the outside with a gold rope and inscribed "USCGC DECISIVE" above and "WMEC 629" below in gold.

Symbolism

SHIELD

Red, white and blue our national colors, are also the traditional Coast Guard colors. The two red stripes honor the cutter's Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendations, while the white stripes are for the three Coast Guard Unit Commendations. The gold laurel is emblematic of excellence and high achievement and commemorates the multiple awards the DECISIVE has earned. The heraldic naval crown was traditionally granted to eminent sailors for outstanding service and reflects the cutter's motto.


CREST

The life ring represents the cutter's humanitarian service as well as its search and rescue mission; its red detail stands for valor and sacrifice. The anchor chain symbolizes teamwork and strength and alludes to restraint, underscoring the interdiction and maritime law enforcement mission of the DECISIVE. The anchor symbolizes naval authority and responsibility.


MOTTO

USCGC DECISIVE proudly serves as "Queen of the Fleet" after 25 years of dedicated service. She is the last of her class.
